Transfer of Equity

A transfer of equity is the process of transferring the legal ownership of a property, usually by transferring the ownership from sole to joint ownership, or from joint to sole ownership. Individual circumstances for a transfer of equity can vary and our experienced Residential Property lawyers will provide tailored advice specific to your situation and guide you through the process.

An overview of what we will deal with as part of the transfer of equity process is detailed below:

  • Review the property title and report anything important to you
  • Advise on any SDLT implications
  • Obtain consent from your lender (if applicable)
  • Prepare and arrange for the new transfer deed to be signed
  • Deal with the registration of the transfer with HM Land Registry

Often, a transfer of equity may be done in conjunction with a re-mortgage. We can deal with both transactions simultaneously, to ensure a smooth and seamless process for you.
