Why did you choose the law?

I chose to become a Lawyer because I love both the adrenaline of completing deals and working with people – so it’s a great combination for me.

Tell us a bit about how you got here…

I took a slightly different route into law and completed a combined Business and Law degree majoring in Business which I subsequently converted into a full law degree by completing the GDL. I completed my training contract at a law firm in the Three Counties, qualifying into the Commercial Property department and remained there for 9 years, prior to joining Band Hatton Button.

What does your day job look like?

Two days are never the same! I’m really passionate about client service so I do spend a lot of time communicating with clients and managing their expectations.

I have wide ranging experience of all matters relating to Commercial Property and some of the more common that I come across day-to-day include:

  • Landlord and Tenant matters such as drafting and negotiating leases and ancillary documentation;
  • Acting for occupiers and investors in the acquisition, management and disposal of properties both commercial and residential;
  • Property development;
  • Acting for lenders in perfecting security;
  • Providing corporate support to the Corporate department assisting with the sales, purchases and mergers; and Property aspects relating to Healthcare.

Unusually for a Commercial Property Lawyer I also specialise in Leasehold Enfranchisement matters acting for both Landlords and Tenants, I have over 7 years’ experience and work closely with surveyors to ensure that what could be a largely complicated matter is dealt with as smoothly as possible.

What Do You Like to Do Outside of Work?

I absolutely love travelling and seeing the world, I believe life is too short to visit the same place twice! I also read a lot and enjoy keeping fit – I’m a really keen runner and attend the gym daily.

I’m an avid Leicester City fan and generally spend my weekends keeping up to date with the football scores!

I am also one of the firm’s nominated members of the Rotary Club of Kenilworth and have been actively involved with attending their meetings and fundraising for the Club.

I was delighted to be named Lawyer of the Year at the annual Warwickshire Law Society Awards in 2021.
