Private Equity and Venture Capital

The term ‘Private Equity’ covers a broad range of different transactions but generally describes the process of investing in a private business or company by taking shares, often with a view to ‘turning a company round’.  Whether or not the investor is an institutional corporate investor or a wealthy individual, we can help both investors and investees.

The legal documentation employed in private equity investment transactions can often seem obscure to people who are not familiar with it.  Even for seasoned investors, the paperwork and transactional steps are not always straightforward.  We will explain things clearly and ensure that the completed transaction achieves what our client wants.

‘Venture Capital’ is also an expression that can mean different things to different people, but is essentially another form of private equity usually provided to start ups and small businesses that are seen to have good potential for growth.

Ultimately, we believe in simplicity and responsiveness and try hard to ensure that clients understand the principles behind any investment deal in which they are involved so that they can be confident that their objectives are met.
