Property Disputes – Gambling a Large Sum of Money

Sector

Private client.

How we helped

Our client assisted a family friend with gambling a large sum of money. However, unbeknown to him, on one of the money deposits, the family friend put a reference of “house deposit” when sending it through the bank. The family friend provided our client with a transfer to sign saying that their father (who was his best friend and whose house it was originally) had called him from India agreeing that they put his wife on the house. Our client signed the transfer, not in front of any independent witnesses. When our client was informed by his father that he said no such thing, they objected to the transfer, and the matter is currently going to the Tribunal.
