Why did you choose the law?
I studied Law at degree level as I felt that this would open many doors for me. In the beginning, I wasn’t sure what area of law I wanted to specialise in. As soon as I started working in the private client sector, I knew that this was the right fit for me.
Tell us a bit about how you got here…
I studied Law at Aston University and graduated in 2021, gaining a 2:1 honours LLB Law degree.
I joined Band Hatton Button in June 2023 as a Paralegal in the Wills Trusts and Probate Team. Prior to that, I worked for an established Tax and Trust Corporation for two years, where my main focus was on Trust Management and Administration.
What does your day job look like?
My role as a Paralegal is to support the lawyers in the Wills, Trusts and Probate team. I sit in on meetings with clients and take detailed notes, often including a list of action points. Meetings vary from clients wanting to make Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney to put their affairs into good order, to meeting with families who have been bereaved and need help and support with administering the estate of their loved ones.
I am often the first point of contact for many new and existing clients when they get in touch to make an appointment whether that be for a face-to-face meeting or a video call.
My greatest strengths lie in my organisation, attention to detail, and caring approach when dealing with a matter. I understand that we deal with a lot of sensitive situations, and I take satisfaction from helping clients navigate what can be a particularly difficult time in the least stressful way possible.
What do you like to do outside of work?
Outside of work I love to spend my free time with my family and friends, who I’m very close to. I also enjoy reading romance novels, going to the gym, and watching TV series and sports – football is my favourite!
