Marta Fisher
Why did you choose the law?
This is something I always wanted to do, it just took me a little longer to get here.
Tell us a bit about how you got here…
I have not taken your typical path to being a solicitor. I studied languages (Russian and English) at University and later in my working life I requalified as a solicitor. Initially I worked as a paralegal in a large international law firm in Birmingham. I trained with a local firm in Solihull and I finally joined Hatton Button as a solicitor in 2015.
What does your day job look like?
Each day is different, but as a rule each day starts with logging onto my computer and checking emails. I am paper free so most of my work is done via emails and Teams and I cannot imagine my work life without two computer screens! As a corporate and commercial solicitor, I spend a lot of time drafting, pursuing, researching and negotiating. I have a regular contact with clients by emails and Teams.
I have a wide range of experience advising clients on all aspects of commercial and corporate law.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I like to travel. I play tennis and I love skiing (provided slopes have snow!). I can speak Slovak and Czech.
