Charity & Corporate Social Responsibility

We raise money throughout the year for those in need and are proud to work with a number of good causes in our local community.

We are delighted that UHCW Charity is our current charity partner and we have pledged a year’s worth of fundraising to this wonderful local cause after a staff vote.

UHCW Charity funds world-leading equipment, trains NHS staff in groundbreaking techniques and improves surroundings, helping to create a warm and comfortable environment for all.

In May 2023, we hosted a Charity Ball in aid of the UHCW Charity, specifically targeted at supporting patients and families living with Dementia and raised an incredible £9,279.30. The money raised during the evening will be used to support patients and families living with dementia to improve their quality of life and will fund reminiscence therapy, dementia dolls, memory software and creating a dementia friendly environment. Further to this, staff held a Bake-Off competition in July 2023, which raised an additional £166.10 for the charity.

We encourage and support colleagues undertaking charity-based initiatives and participate in most national charity days. We annually sponsor other local charitable groups such as children’s sports teams.

Some past fundraising successes include:

  • We held a Quiz Night at Coventry Rugby Club and made £808.67 for Cyrenians.
  • We sponsored and helped organise a Coventry Leofric Lions Sporting Dinner held at Coventry Rugby Club, raising over £7k for Lions charities and the Multiple Sclerosis Trust.
  • We made over £3.5k for Coventry Leofric and Kenilworth Lions and their charities by organising and co-sponsoring a Golf Day, which was held at Stoneleigh Deer Park Golf Club.
  • We raised over £10k for Shine A Light Support Service hosting a Charity Ball at the Double Tree by Hilton at Walsgrave in Coventry, on 11 May 2018.
  • A team from the firm took part in the Lake District Six Peaks Challenge, raising over £500 for Shine A Light Support Service.
  • We organised a quiz night in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Kenilworth to raise funds for Shine A Light Support Service and made around £1600.
  • We supported the Rotary Club of Kenilworth with their Tackling Hunger event, where volunteers (including some members of staff) packed over 50,000 meals for families overseas in one day. Food bank collections were also made for UK families in need. Click here for more info.
  • We made over £2k for Zoe’s Place by organising a Charity Quiz Night for the Rotary Club of Kenilworth. We saw 25 teams from the local business and Rotarian communities compete. We continue to also support other Rotary events and causes.
  • We made over £6k at 2016’s Charity Ball for the Heart of England Community Foundation. The Ball, held on 23 September 2016 at Coombe Abbey, was a great success and bought together a great range of local business people.

UHCW NHS Trust is committed to providing the best standard of care for patients with dementia.

People living with dementia can be admitted to our hospital sites for other clinical reasons, but their stay can be difficult as they can become confused or frightened easily.

We aim to reduce this fear and anxiety as much as possible by ensuring compassion remains at the forefront of all our patient care.

Corporate Social Responsibility

Corporate Social Responsibility is the commitment by this business to behave ethically and to contribute to the economic development of our community while improving the quality of life of our workforce, their families as well as society at large.

Our approach to our work is to ensure we deliver to our clients a service that is consistent with the highest professional and ethical standards. First class service and legal expertise are but two parts of the CSR policy.

Through our CSR Policy we promote internally and externally:

  • Charities;
  • Local community;
  • Diversity;
  • Workplace; and
  • Environmental initiatives.

We aim to turn these beliefs into action and to integrate our social and environmental concerns into our day to day operations and our dealings with our clients and the wider community.
