Junior Paralegal

About Me

I jointed Band Hatton Button in 2022 as a Residential Property Assistant, initially working on post-completion matters while supporting the wider residential property team. As my knowledge and experience developed, I progressed to the role of Junior Paralegal in October 2024.

My route into law was not a conventional one. My interest in the profession was inspired by my twin sister, Becky; who had the time had worked for another local solicitors’ firm in family and conveyancing for 15 years. Following several surgeries which meant I could no longer pursue my original career plans, I took the opportunity to explore a new direction first by obtaining an NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration and then a career in law that I have really come to enjoy.

My Role

I support clients and colleagues throughout the residential conveyancing process, from initial instructions through to completion. I assist with preparing documentation, communicating with clients and other professionals and helping matters progress as smoothly and efficiently as possible.

I have a particular interest in post-completion work. While completion is often seen as the finish line, there are still important steps to be dealt with afterwards to ensure everything is properly finalised. I enjoy making sure these final stages are handled carefully and efficiently.

I also help to train and support newer members of the team, particularly with post-completion work. I enjoy the fast-paced nature of residential property and take pride in keeping matters organised while ensuring clients feel informed, reassured and supported throughout the transaction.

What I Enjoy Most

The part of my role I enjoy most is working with people. I value building strong relationships with clients and being someone, they feel comfortable approaching with questions or concerns, particularly during what can be an important and sometimes stressful time.

I also really enjoy being part of a supportive team where we can share knowledge, help one another and work collaboratively to achieve the best possible outcomes for our clients.

Outside the Office

I enjoy spending time with my partner, family and friends, travelling and particularly visiting Italy. I am also a keen football and general sports fan and was fortunate enough to attend the rhythmic gymnastics at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games.

I am also passionate about raising awareness of diabetes. Since my diagnosis in January 2024, my own experiences have given me a much greater understanding of the condition and the impact it can have on everyday life. Following treatment and ongoing care for diabetic retinopathy, I have become particularly keen to support diabetes-related causes and help raise awareness of the importance of managing the condition and looking after your wider health.

Taking part in fundraising challenges has given me the opportunity to turn my personal experience into something positive, whilst supporting causes that are important to me.
