Trainee Solicitor

About Me

I am a Trainee Solicitor at Band Hatton Button, assisting clients with a range of corporate and commercial matters. I was drawn to a career in law because it offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference to people's lives and businesses by helping them overcome challenges and achieve their goals.

I graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2025 with a Law degree and am currently studying with BPP University as I work towards qualifying as a solicitor through the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE), which I am preparing to sit in 2028. This combination of practical experience and ongoing legal education allows me to continue developing my legal knowledge while supporting clients on a variety of matters.

Since joining Band Hatton Button, I have gained experience across several areas of the firm through seats in Residential Property, Wills, Trusts & Probate, Family Law, and now Corporate & Commercial. This has provided me with a broad understanding of the legal profession and the diverse needs of both individual and business clients.

My Role

As a Trainee Solicitor within the Corporate and Commercial team, I support clients on a wide range of business and transactional matters. My day-to-day responsibilities include legal research, drafting corporate documents, preparing transaction and completion documents, conducting due diligence exercises and assisting with corporate transactions.

I regularly assist with share allotments, shareholder arrangements, amendments to articles of association, company restructures, investments, shareholder agreements and commercial contracts. My previous experience in Residential Property, Wills, Trusts & Probate and Family Law has given me valuable exposure to a variety of legal issues and has helped me develop a well-rounded approach when assisting clients.

Working closely with senior members of the team enables me to gain valuable experience while helping clients achieve their commercial objectives and ensuring matters progress efficiently.

What I Enjoy Most

What I enjoy most about my role is the variety of work and the opportunity to be involved in transactions that help businesses grow and achieve their goals. Every matter presents a different challenge, which means there is always something new to learn and an opportunity to develop both my legal and commercial understanding.

I particularly enjoy the research aspect of my role. I find it interesting to explore different areas of law, widen my knowledge of various sectors, and gain a deeper understanding of how businesses are structured and operate. Whether I am researching a complex legal issue, reviewing a company's constitutional documents, or analysing a proposed corporate transaction, I enjoy delving into the detail and developing a broader understanding of the commercial considerations that affect clients.

Having worked across several practice areas during my training contract, including Residential Property, Wills, Trusts & Probate, Family Law, and Corporate & Commercial, I have developed an appreciation for the diverse legal challenges faced by both individuals and businesses.

The combination of technical legal work, research, problem-solving, and client interaction makes the role both interesting and rewarding, and I am always keen to continue building my knowledge and taking on new challenges.

Outside the Office

Outside of work, I enjoy playing golf and regularly take part in golf events organised through work, which provide a great opportunity to build relationships with colleagues and clients in a relaxed setting. I also enjoy spending time with family and friends, travelling when I can, watching the football and keeping active recently taking up running in preparation to run a half marathon.
