Why did you choose the law?

I chose law because I wanted a career where I could genuinely help people. Law allows me to support people during the most important and often the most challenging moments in their lives. Knowing that my work can make a meaningful difference in someone’s situation is what motivates me the most.

Tell us a bit about how you got here…

I completed my law degree at Coventry University, graduating with a 2:1. Before finishing my degree, I secured an admin role at a trust corporation, which allowed me to gain practical experience early in my career. I later joined Band Hatton Buton where I continue to develop my skills and knowledge in practice. I am currently studying towards my solicitor apprenticeship combining hands on experience with ongoing professional development.

What does your day job look like?

My day-to-day role as a Wills, Trust and Probate paralegal is varied, fast paces and never dull. I support three lawyers in the team, assisting with matters from instruction through finalising of estates. I regularly take new enquiries with the other paralegals in the team and often is the first-person clients speak so, helping them make sense of the process and reassuring them that they’re in safe hands. I also liaise with clients, financial instructions and other third parties, draft correspondence and legal documents and help progress files efficiently.

What do you like to do outside of work?

Outside of work, I love travelling abroad, exploring new places and trying foods that I can barely pronounce. Some weekends are for visiting family in London and Swindon who keep me occasionally well fed! Basically, I am always up for an adventure, whether it’s navigating a foreign country or just figuring out how to order lunch in a new language.
