Charlotte Qualifies as Associate Member of Solicitors for the Elderly

Charlotte Macalister, a Solicitor in our Wills, Trusts & Probate Team, recently passed her Solicitors for the Elderly (SFE) exam, qualifying her as an Associate Member.

The success means that all of the lawyers in our Wills, Trusts & Probate Team are now members of SFE - four being Associates, and one being a full member. Department head Michelle Gavin is a fully accredited member and colleagues Keri Wood, Christina Polychronakis and Lisa Moseley are Associate Members. Michelle is also a member of the SFE Birmingham Committee.

SFE is an independent, national organisation of lawyers, who provide specialist legal advice specifically for older and vulnerable people, their families and carers. Their aim is to improve the knowledge and service provided on legal issues including, tax planning, wills, enduring and lasting powers of attorney, long-term social and health care and other retirement issues.

Charlotte regularly deals with elderly clients, dealing with matters such as the preparation of Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney, registration of Enduring Powers of Attorney, Court of Protection applications and the administration of taxable and non-taxable estates and Trust administration.

Charlotte commented "I am really pleased to have passed the recent SFE exam to become an Associate Member. I am the final member of the team to have taken the exam so it's lovely to be part of a team who all have this important qualification and I am looking forward to putting it to good use".

Charlotte, and the team, have also recently become Dementia Friends, an Alzheimer's Society initiative to raise awareness and understanding of dementia.
