Business Breakfast Seminar in the city

Julia Woodhouse, an employment partner at Band Hatton Button, was invited to deliver a business breakfast seminar in the city.

She was asked by leading recruitment agency Hays Human Resources Coventry to present the specialist employment law seminar at the De Vere Hotel at the Ricoh Arena.

Around 35 HR delegates from businesses across Coventry and Warwickshire attended the event where Julia provided an insight into the employment legislation which is set to come into effect this month.

Julia said: "It is important for HR professionals and businesses to have a clear and up-to-date understanding of employment law so as to avoid any pitfalls in the future.

"Businesses should be aware of a number of changes which will come into effect this month including the right for an expectant father or partner of a pregnant woman to take unpaid time off work to attend up to two ante-natal appointments.

"The impact of social media in the work place is also becoming a popular discussion topic and the seminar aimed to highlight the employment law issues raised by inappropriate use of social media by employees and when it can be fair to dismiss them for this misuse.

"Delegates were also keen to find out how employers can protect business social media connections made by their employees during their employment."
