Jon is Head of the Litigation Department at Band Hatton Button and also compliance partner with partnership responsibility for client care, professional quality and risk management.
Born and raised in Yorkshire, Jon moved to Coventry to study for a Business Law degree and first joined Band Hatton for a year’s work experience in 1987, (the year that Coventry City won the FA cup & beat Jon’s team Leeds Utd in the semi-final!).
With almost 30 years’ experience as a litigation practitioner, Jon’s particular areas of specialism are commercial and business disputes, including in particular commercial property and related issues such as insolvency and debt recovery.
Advising and representing clients in these areas of law requires understanding of each client’s particular needs and objectives as well as technical knowledge and experience to give the right advice when it is needed in order to secure the right outcome. Jon has experience of litigating cases in all areas of the courts & tribunals and he works with an established network of other professionals.
Jon’s most memorable career moment to date was as a trainee when he appeared as an agent for the Treasury Solicitor’s Department in an application at Coventry County Court which gave him the opportunity to introduce himself as representing “the First Lord of the Treasury, the Right Honourable John Major MP”. Unfortunately the then Prime Minister didn’t have the time to complete our client satisfaction questionnaire.
Jon lives in Coventry with his wife Alison, their 2 daughters, various pets and other animals.
