Why did you choose the law?
I began studying law at A level and discovered I had a passion for it. I initially took an interest in going down the advocacy route having participated in several Mooting competitions including a mock appeals hearing at the official opening ceremony of the UK Supreme Court in 2009; however, decided on a career as a solicitor during my placement year in a small solicitor’s firm during my law degree.
Tell us a bit about how you got here…
After completing Law School I had several paralegal roles in areas various areas of litigation and corporate law before securing a training contract at a small commercial firm in Derby where I gained experience in Corporate and Commercial, Commercial Litigation, and Employment Law. Since qualifying in June 2020, I have worked as a corporate and commercial solicitor and joined Band Hatton Button in its Corporate and Commercial Department in September 2025.
What does your day job look like?
I handle a mix of corporate and commercial matters including: Share sales and acquisitions, Business and Asset sales and Acquisitions; Share Buy Backs; preparing shareholders agreements and articles of association; Directors’ Service Agreements; Enterprise Management Incentive Schemes (EMI Schemes); and dealing with various other shareholder matters. I also have experience in preparing terms and conditions for the sale of goods and services; NDAs; manufacturing agreements; distribution agreements; freelancer and consultancy contracts; and providing general commercial contract advice.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I enjoy painting, reading and spending time with my family.
