About Me

Born and raised in Yorkshire, I moved to Coventry to study for a Business Law degree at what was then Coventry (Lanchester) Polytechnic. I joined Band Hatton for a year's work experience in 1987 and have been here ever since!

With over 30 years' experience as a litigation practitioner, I have developed wide-ranging experience across a variety of disputes, with particular expertise in commercial and business disputes, including commercial property.

My Role

I am part of our Compliance team, supporting the firm with client care, professional quality and risk management. I also use my experience as a litigation practitioner to support colleagues in the Litigation and Commercial Property teams when they encounter issues in my areas of expertise.

My approach is centred around understanding each client's individual needs and objectives, alongside applying the technical knowledge and experience needed to provide the right advice at the right time. I have extensive experience of litigation across courts and tribunals, as well as mediation, helping clients to achieve commercially viable settlements.

Over the years, I have also established a strong network of other professionals who I can work alongside when a matter requires additional expertise.

What I Enjoy Most

One of the things I enjoy most about my role is using my experience to help solve problems, whether that's supporting clients or colleagues with complex issues.

One of my most memorable career moments came as a trainee, when I appeared as an agent for the Treasury Solicitor's Department in an application at Coventry County Court. This gave me the opportunity to introduce myself as representing "the First Lord of the Treasury, the Right Honourable John Major MP".

Unfortunately, the then Prime Minister didn't have time to complete our client satisfaction questionnaire!

Outside the Office

I live in Coventry and have strong connections with a number of local organisations. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and making the most of the many opportunities Coventry and Warwickshire have to offer.
