Why did you choose the law?

It was something I was always interested in and although I came to law a little later in life in comparison with majority of my colleagues I have never regretted my decision to change career.

Tell us a bit about how you got here…

I joined Band Hatton Button as a solicitor in July 2015.    Prior to joining Band Hatton Button I worked in a commercial department of a regional law firm in Birmingham.  I trained with a firm in Solihull.  Prior to becoming a solicitor I worked as a paralegal in the property finance department of a large international law firm in Birmingham.

What does your day job look like?

An average day for me usually consists of dealing with my emails, speaking to the clients over the phone or face to face.  As a corporate and commercial lawyer, I spend a lot of time drafting and reviewing various documents and negotiating with other solicitors.

I have a wide range of experience advising clients on all aspects of commercial and corporate law.    One of my key specialisms within the firm is acting for healthcare practitioners. I act in the sale and purchases of physiotherapy practices and optometrist practices.  I regularly act for dentists buying and selling NHS and/or private practices.  I have been advising clients regarding the NHS and CQC requirements relating to sale and purchase transactions.  I have been advising medical professionals such as dentists, GPs and surgeons on all aspects of partnership matters including partnership agreements, fee sharing arrangements, retirement from partnerships and setting up LLPs.

The clients Band Hatton Button represents vary from sole traders and family run businesses to well-known household names   The interesting part of my job is the variety, one day I can deal with a managing director of a large national company and a day later I might be helping a small business to draft their terms and conditions.

Over the years I have acted for banks and international manufactures, UK based car dealerships, national membership organisations, UK based family run manufacturing businesses, retailers, purely on line based businesses.

What do you like to do outside of work?

I love travelling. I am a regular gym goer, and like to play badminton and I love skiing. I speak Slovak, Czech and Russian.

I am one of the firm’s nominated members of the Rotary Club of Kenilworth.
