Why did you choose the law?

Deciding what you want to do for the rest of your life at 17/18 is quite daunting. But even then, I knew that I wanted a career where no two days were ever going to be the same and one that was going to consistently drive me forward. Law just happened to be the perfect path for me!

Tell us a bit about how you got here

I graduated in 2016 with an Upper Second Class Law LLB (Hons) degree from The University of Liverpool . My first role in the legal world was as a Legal Secretary at a firm in Leamington Spa from 2017 to 2018. I then joined a Midlands-based firm in Solihull and worked as a Private Client Paralegal whilst also studying my LPC at the University of Law, receiving a Distinction in 2020. I secured a training contract with the same firm and did seats in the Private Client, Family and Commercial Property departments. I then qualified as a Solicitor in Commercial Property in March 2022 and remained with the firm before joining Band Hatton Button in April 2025.

What does your day job look like?

It is best to always expect the unexpected with this job! You can have some days where your transactions are fairly straight-forward and others where something very niche will take up most of your time.

My main focus is my clients. I like to tailor my approach to their specific needs, whilst also being pragmatic in managing expectations. My clientele varies from individuals, corporate entities, corporate pension trustees and lenders.

I specialise in a broad range of matters, including but not limited to the following:

  • Acquisitions and Disposals of Freehold and Leasehold land and properties;
  • Leasehold matters (acting for both Landlord and Tenant) for example, drafting leases, lease assignments, lease surrenders etc;
  • Purchases at Auction;
  • Commercial Refinancing matters;
  • Residential Development and Plot Sales;
  • Transfers of Equity.

What do you like to do outside of work?

After work, I like to unwind by reading or exercising.

I have a fox red Labrador called Ruby who is my little pride and joy (or not so little as she weighs around 25kg). I love taking her for walks in the countryside, although I don’t love when she runs after another dog’s ball.

I also love to travel and experience new cultures and cuisines.
