Why did you choose the law?

I wanted to pursue a career in law from a very early age. I cannot actually remember what prompted me to do so but I am a big believer in fairness and justice so it was only right for me to choose the path I have.

Tell us a bit about how you got here…

I carried out my law degree at the University of Leicester and completed my LPC at Nottingham Law School. I carried out my training contract at a firm in London and qualified as a solicitor in 2014. I am now a solicitor here at Band Hatton Button and possess a wealth of experience in litigation and dispute resolution.

What does your day job look like?

My caseload is extremely varied as I am experienced in and practice a range of different litigation based matters. I could be working on a complex commercial landlord and tenant matter one moment before then moving on to an insolvency related matter to then dealing with a contract dispute. To put this into perspective, my areas of practice are, but not limited to, the following:

  • Contract disputes;
  • Property litigation matters such as commercial landlord and tenant disputes, forfeiture, possession, dilapidations and service charge disputes;
  • Corporate and personal insolvency matters such as winding up proceedings, bankruptcy, administration and receivership, claims in liquidations and directors’ disqualification proceedings);
  • Construction/building disputes;
  • Debt recovery;
  • Intellectual property matters such as copyright infringement and passing off;
  • Defamation and breach of privacy claims;
  • Planning and licensing; and
  • Shareholder and partnership disputes.

My career highlights to date include successfully representing a former CEO of a premier league football club in a breach of privacy claim and successfully defending various company directors who were the subject of disqualification proceedings (I have a very niche specialism in this area).

I pride myself on my ability to provide a fast, cost-effective and pragmatic service to clients. I am always prepared to go the extra mile for clients and I am dedicated, efficient and hard working.

What do you like to do outside of work?

I enjoy spending time with my friends and family. I am also an amateur Bollywood dancer and have featured in several famous Bollywood films!

“I must say I’m extremely happy with the work the Raman has undertaken for St James Court Ltd, and am impressed by her tenacity and professionalism with that matter and thank her for a swift, positive conclusion!”
